Medieval Town Part 2: Texture
In the CMU course 53884 ADVANCED PIPELINE TOPICS FOR FILM AND GAME ART, our group project involves creating a fully art-based cinematic piece using Unreal Engine 5. The narrative revolves around a city post-war in the medieval era, showcasing a vast cityscape, a grand church, and two crucial characters. Each group member contributed to different aspects, with my focus mainly on crafting the detailed city environment. This portfolio predominantly highlights the texture and my substance designer usage.

Medieval Stone Brick
Use in project: City Wall, Tower, Arch, Bridge
This texture is versatile for our project, as a medium-sized brick pattern commonly seen on medieval brick walls. In Substance Designer, by rotating the tile generator, I achieve a randomized and realistic pattern. Adding layers creates cracks and debris on both the bricks and gaps. The color scheme is beige with grey to contrast the bricks and gaps, enhancing an aged brick pattern vibe we aim to portray.

Rock Brick
Use in project: Wall on houses, path
Medium size rock brick with mud extended out of the seam. The base color is beige and combined that with the layers that complement the peddles, holes, stains, and crack heights to create a weathering vibe.
Rock Path - Terrain
Use in project: Path, Mountain
The material combines with layers like different-sized rocks, dirt base, rock cracks, swaying grass, scattered leaves, and more. These elements aim to recreate a natural path. The colors mostly include beige, grey, and green. In light, the rock faces stand out brightly, creating a vivid nature pattern.

Red Brick With Dirt
Use in project: Outdoor Props, Flat Wall On House
For a diverse selection of bricks, this intricate red brick design is perfect for creating smooth walls and outdoor furniture pieces. The pattern features multiple layers of cracks in varying sizes, adding depth and character to the surface. Consideration is also being given to potentially replacing the gray dirt with a blood-like hue to evoke post-war emotions.
Rock Path - Variation
Use in project: street path
Small size ramdom diamond shape pattern generated from tile generator, sharing the same layers of the Rock Brick (2nd material in this page), having the same layers of distruction/weathering showcase, but adjust the color and levels to make it like a path rock on the ground.
